James Laver designed and made the CARBOCANE handle in 2002 in order to offer a better handle to L&W customers. He has used several different designs since then and now has released the latest version from May 2007. Other brands have tried to copy the handle but none come close to the Original Laver & Wood branded CARBOCANE handle. James developed the name CARBOCANE in order to best describe the nature of a traditional handle blended with the technology of carbon fibre.
The CARBOCANE handle is designed to give optimum performance whilst still retaining the feel of the traditional handle. It is stiff but does not give back the vibration expected with such a handle. Rigorous testing over the last 5 years with International and 1st Class players have confirmed beyond any doubt that it works.
A Carbon / S-Glass combination tube is inserted through the handle
from the end to the level of the shoulders at the splice. One cannot
go into the blade of the batwith the carbon shaft as this would be
against the MCC regulations. This concept results in a virtually
unbreakable handle. If you have ever broken a bat handle or feel that
you put a lot of stress on your handle through your natural game then
this is an essential tool to overcome these problems.
CARBO bats are usually made to the "special" profile but can be made to any shape and are available in three grades of English willow under the following model names: FIREFLY - grade 1, COMET - grade 2, Churchill - grade 3 English willow. All fully customisable.
