Ok, so these bats are expensive, why is this so?
Well the willow needs to be imported into New Zealand, then the bats exported back to UK, a complete journey around the World, circa £35 of the price is shipping charges alone. Each bat is hand crafted to your exact requirements by a master bat maker, James Laver is World renowned as one of the best independant bat makers working today. Small volume manufacture using only the very best raw materials in a developed but remote country like New Zealand is expensive.
So what do you get?
Hand crafted excellence, a rare bat that few people will have and the very best performance available.
Some people will buy because they can, others as an investment in their game. The truth is once tried, we rarely hear of anybody going back to another brand.
Ok, so they're probably not for everybody, certainly less expensive bats are available and ones that will perform on a level, but if you want true individuality and the very best bat, uncompromisingly made to your exact specification then Laver & Wood should be a strong contender.
Why do some people buy a Rolls Royce and others a Smart car? They both get you from A to B but you know, there is room in the World for both.......
CARBO range also available, traditional Laver & Wood bats with a carbon fibre impregnated handle for extra stiffness and power.
Price range: £249 - £339
JUNIOR BATS
Junior bats also made to your exact specification, size weight, balance etc in various grades. Special custom bats also made, eg size 5 handle on a harrow blade to suit your particular child's size.
If you're interested in Laver & Wood drop us an e-mail and let us introduce you to the finest hand crafted cricket bats.
The Legacy cricket bat is inspired by the older more primitive design of bat, more club like with a spine running right into the toe to produce a very low sweet spot and a very tough toe, hitting yorkers for six is becoming a reality and this bat will certainly help players on low bouncing pitches. The key concepts are:
* Grade 2 Heritage style English willow clefts, with excellent balance and pick up.
* Unique shape and profile putting massive amounts of wood into the toe area.
* For slow or unpredictable pitches, offering hitting power and a tough toe.
