At this point in time there is no one officially responsible for preparing the "teas" for the senior team home fixtures on Saturdays for the 2012 season.
It is proposed to organise a rota of those individuals who are willing and able to help out on Saturdays during the season. The more volunteers we have, the less of a burden on any individual it becomes. We are asking all 1st and 2nd XI players and anybody interested in helping the club to seriously consider if a friend or family member (girl friend, boy friend, brother, sister, mother, father, uncle, aunt or even your wife!) would volunteer to assist, even for just one Saturday during the season. We have a small core of volunteers to date (few of which are directly connected to the senior players). Please give it some thought, providing teas is a requirement of us playing in the league, no teas means no senior team cricket at Sprotbrough.
Basic duties involve preparation of a buffet sandwich type tea each Saturday afternoon (and some Sundays) during the season (mid April to mid September). The food and all storage/cleaning materials will be provided. In the event of a match being cancelled the named person on the rota for that day will be contacted by the team captain. A copy of the rota will be maintained in the club house and on this website.
The club will pay a nominal sum to cover expenses and your time.
Daily schedule will be:
1) Arrive at the ground between 1:00 and 1:30pm. The food will have already been bought and will be waiting in the fridge, ready for preparation. The players meet at 12:30pm so the facility will be open from that time.
2) The match starts at 1:30pm (1:00pm in September), the first requirement is to have drinks (15 glasses of orange juice) ready for 23 (20 on Sundays) overs into the game (approximately 2:45pm).
3) Then the tea urn needs putting on and all the crockery/cutlery laying out and sandwiches made.
4) Having tea set out for approximately 30 covers and ready for 4:00 - 4:30pm depending on how the game is progressing. On wet days tea may be taken early to try and save game time. These such occasions will be discussed by the umpires and captains and can only happen if it is possible to have the tea prepared in time, sometimes it isn't.
5) Washing and tidying away after the game, prepare a second set of 15 orange juices ready for 23 (20 on Sundays) overs into the second half of the game (typically 6:00pm).
6) Taking the tea towels away to wash and returning to the clubhouse at your convenience ready for the following week.
Dates are given opposite, if you can help please select one of the free dates and contact Janet Graves (at 1 Brompton Road - contact details on committe page of this website) to register for the slot before the end of April. A master record will be kept in the clubhouse. Please also report any changes to Janet so they can all be covered.
If everybody can please take some responsibility then the rota will work, if not senior team cricket is at risk. Please play your part.
